TSD Names Keely Garren as Director of Professional Development, Effective July 1

- Thompson School District is pleased to announce that Keely Garren has been selected as the district’s Director of Professional Development, effective July 1. Ms. Garren will fill the position that is being vacated by Dr. Melissa Schneider, who will become the district’s Chief Academic Officer this summer.  In her new role, she will facilitate the planning, implementation and monitoring of professional learning opportunities for staff.

Since 2019, Ms. Garren has served as Thompson School District’s Mental Health Coordinator.  Her previous career experience at the school, district and state levels includes work as an Intervention Coordinator, School Counselor and Student Success Administrator at Windsor High School in Windsor, Colo, and as a School Counselor at Lucile Erwin Middle School. Ms. Garren has also served as a Senior Implementation Consultant for the Colorado Department of Education. She has delivered professional development for educators of all levels across the state.

“I am extremely excited for this opportunity to serve our staff members and the Thompson community,” Ms. Garren said. “I believe that positive and trusting relationships are the key to effective learning at any level and I look forward to bringing my experiences and extensive research to this position.”

Ms. Garren earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling and Human Services with an emphasis in School Counseling from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. She is currently completing work on a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, Policy and Studies at the University of Northern Colorado.
