Recognizing the clear link between health and academic performance, Thompson School District utilizes the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model to work towards a collaborative approach in support of health and learning. We know that schools play a critical role in youth health promotion and in helping to establish lifelong healthy behavior patterns.
Health and wellness initiatives continue to expand at individual schools with the help of school wellness leaders, students, parents, community partners and school wellness teams. Incorporation of before and after-school physical activity opportunities, healthier meal options, school gardens, family wellness nights, staff wellness opportunities, promotion of walking/biking to school, support of social-emotional needs, and many other wellness-related initiatives are becoming a mainstay in Thompson schools.
We are appreciative of the input and support we receive from the Thompson community and look forward to continued collaboration. If you have any questions regarding wellness in TSD, or would like to help support healthy schools, please contact the district wellness coordinator at 970-613-5127 or connect with your school principal.
