Schools of Choice

  • Schools of Choice

All students in Thompson School District are assigned to attend a specific school based
upon the geographical attendance area of their residence. However, students have the
option of attending a school outside of their assigned school area. Families who wish to
enroll their student in a school other than their neighborhood school must complete a
School of Choice/Open Enrollment application. Applications for School of Choice/Open
Enrollment are accepted from the Monday following Thanksgiving Break to the first
    Friday following Winter Break.

The application is available on the Thompson School District website under “Student
Open Enrollment.” A separate application must be completed and submitted for each
child and each school being requested. Requests are approved based on space and
program availability. Transportation arrangements are the responsibility of the family
choosing this option. Once a student is accepted, he/she is enrolled at the school of
choice for the duration of the grades served by that school, as long as space is available.
Specific questions about enrolling in a school can generally be answered by calling that
school's administrative office. Board policies JFBA/JFBB and JFBA/JFBB-R, School of
Choice/Open Enrollment, provide detailed explanations of the school of choice
    procedure.

educational programs. Contact any school to arrange a visit.
