History of International Baccalaureate at Coyote Ridge

Coyote Ridge Elementary School opened in the fall of 2008 with a charge from the Board of Education to become an authorized IB World School. In the spring of 2011, Coyote Ridge became a candidate IB World School. During the candidacy period, the staff worked with an IB consultant to create our Programme of Inquiry (POI) and develop units of inquiry. In the fall of 2012, Coyote Ridge applied for authorization. The application was accepted and IB conducted a site visit in the spring of 2013. After a successful visit, IB granted Coyote Ridge official IB World School status in June of 2013. An IB World School is evaluated every 3-5 years. We continue to refine the implementation of IB at our school. During the 2016-2017 school year, the staff completed a self-study of our IB practices and implementation. A two-person team from IB visited CRES in November 2017 to conduct an evaluation. During that visit, the team verified the results of our self-study by talking to teachers, parents, students, and district administration. They provided us with feedback that has helped guide our work the past 5 years.
