Registration Requirements

All students must be registered by a parent/guardian and provide the documents outlined below.

Entrance Age

A child may enter kindergarten if 5 years old on or before October 1 of the year of enrollment. Younger children who do not meet the district’s entrance age requirement for kindergarten may be accepted if transferring from another kindergarten program and the principal or designee determines that placement of the child in kindergarten is appropriate. A child who is 4 years old on or before the district’s start date for kindergarten and has been identified as a highly gifted student, in accordance with applicable state law, may enroll in kindergarten if the early entrance committee determines that placement of the child in kindergarten is appropriate.

Required Documentation

Documents may be uploaded (per Board Policy JF) during online registration. You may provide a copy to your child's school if you are not able to upload required documents.

Proof of Residency

  • Land line phone bill
  • Utility bill
  • Lease or housing contract

Birth Certificate or one of the following:

  • Adoption Certificate
  • Baptismal Certificate
  • Hospital Certificate
  • Passport

Current immunization record and physical
(per Board Policy JLCB-R)

Immunizations required by Colorado state law – Kindergarten

Vaccine Shots Notes
DTP/DTaP/DT/Td 5 May enter with 4 doses if #4 was given at/after age 4
Polio 4 May enter with 3 doses if #3 was given at/after age 4
MMR 2  
Hepatitis B 3  
Varicella/Chickenpox 2 Two doses at least 28 days apart (prefer three months apart) or history of disease by health provider or lab test

Please note: If your child cannot receive an immunization for medical reasons, an MD, DO, APN or PA must sign an Immunization Medical Exemption form. Colorado also allows parents to submit a Non-Medical Exemption (religious or personal belief) with a parent/guardian signature. Please go to www.colorado.gov/vaccineexemption to obtain an exemption form and for guidance on the frequency of submission of exemptions.
