The Department of Assessment and Evaluation oversees the district's comprehensive assessment system. A variety of district and state assessments are used at all grade levels to measure the progress of students as they work toward achievement of knowledge and skills in content area standards. These test results provide critical information for parents and students, teachers and administrators, the Board of Education and the community. The data from these assessments help educators monitor student growth in the content areas being assessed, make instructional decisions in the classroom, evaluate school and district programs and provide accountability.
The Department of Assessment and Accountability is responsible for the administration of Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies as well as the PSAT 9, PSAT 10 and SAT 11, which are part of the state assessment and accountability system.
