Creative Arts, Media, and Design
Students will engage in a project to artistically honor school and/or community leaders. Students will research and interview their honorees to write a short biography that will accompany their project. Students will photograph their subject to use as a reference for creating a portrait of their subject. LED technology will be used to create the final version of the portrait. Creating the portrait will involve building and assembling the stand to house the LED lights and engraving the portraits onto an acrylic square. The honorees will be invited to an art show displaying the students’ work.
In this STEMx course, we will cover the basics of journalism and photography. We will conduct research, create questions for and conduct interviews with staff and students, enjoy learning about the basics of photography, and synthesize our learning into the creation of an online newsletter, frame photography around the school, and so much more. We will make connections with community members in the field of journalism and photography as we learn and grow in these areas.
