Karen is entering her third year at High Plains School and LOVES this 'herd'!  She has been in Thompson School District for 16 years, and in education for 32 years.  Her past experience in education includes Physical Education, Health Education, Science and Dean of Students and spans kindergarten to ninth grade.  She feels fortunate to have rubbed shoulders with fantastic educators and families in the past from whom she has learned so much!  Karen is thrilled to be a part of a community that truly Charges through failures and Stampedes through challenges! The students, staff and families in this community constantly provide motivation for her to try to be and do her best.

Karen attended CSU where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Exercise in Sports Science.  While living and teaching in Georgia, she earned her Masters of Science in Health Studies from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.  In 2017, she earned her Masters of Arts in Principal Leadership from Argosy University, Denver.  

She appreciates life in Colorado that includes hikes in the nearby mountains, walks or biking the bike trails, gardening, and enjoying the local restaurants and music venues with family and friends.  Her two children are both graduates of the Thompson School District and enjoy adult life nearby.  Her siblings and their children mostly live in the area, so she stays busy with family celebrations, too.  She believes very strongly in contributing and supporting her community - which includes her wonderful Bison family!
