Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Karen Helfrich
Karen is beginning her first year at High Plains School and is thrilled to be part of the 'herd'! She is beginning her 14th year in Thompson School District, and her 30th year in education. Her past experience in education includes Physical Education, Health Education, Science and Dean of Students and spans kindergarten to ninth grade. She feels fortunate to have rubbed shoulders with fantastic educators and families in the past from whom she has learned so much! She is positive this year will bring new memories, lots of opportunities for growth, and many new experiences and friendships.
Karen attended CSU where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Exercise in Sports Science. While living and teaching in Georgia, she earned her Masters of Science in Health Studies from the Univeristy of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. Recently, she earned her Masters of Arts in Principal Leadership from Argosy Univerity, Denver.
She lives in Loveland so greatly enjoys hiking in the nearby mountains, walking the bike trails, gardening, and enjoying the local restaurants with family and friends. Her two children are both graduates of the Thompson School District and enjoying adult life nearby. Her siblings and their children mostly live in the area, so she stays busy with family celebrations, too. She believes very strongly in contributing and supporting her community - which includes her new Bison family!
