Construction Skilled Trades 2 year pathway (4 semesters)
Students will build a solid foundation while preparing and learning the best skills for employment. They will have a “hands on” experience with using power tools, reading blueprints and working with our industry partners.
This pathway has prerequisites. Please read the Requirements & Prerequisistes information below and make sure you meet the requirements.

Overview
Construction Skilled Trades will introduce students to service tech training in plumbing & electrical, electricity and electrical installations in the construction industry, plumbing services and more!

- Principles of Construction & Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Systems
- Construction Math & Materials/Blueprints
- Electrical Installations
- Plumbing/HVAC Installations

Requirements & Prerequisites
This pathway is open to students in 10th, 11th and 12th grade.
- Students must complete Algebra I or higher, prior to entering this pathway.

Certifications
Trade specific certifications offered during the pathway:
1st year- HBI PACT Core, OSHA 10, AutoCAD, & Autodesk- REVIT
2nd year- HBI PACT/Electrical, HBI PACT/Plumbing
Students may also have the opportunity to work towards AIMS certificates: Industry Electrical Certificate I, Industry Plumbing Certificate I & Autodesk-INVENTOR.

High School Credit
Students earn 1.5 credit each semester of core and elective credit. This pathway issues the following high school credit:

1st Semester (Year one of pathway)
.5 English- Grade Level, .5 Chemistry or GeoPhys Science, .5 CTE elective
2nd Semester (Year one of pathway)
.5 English- Grade Level, .5 Applied Math, .5 CTE elective
3rd Semester (Year two of pathway)
.5 English- Grade Level, .5 Chemistry or GeoPhys Science, .5 CTE elective
4th Semester (Year two of pathway)
.5 English- Grade Level, .5 CTE elective, .5 Work Based Learning

Concurrent Enrollment Credit
College Partner: AIMS Community College
The Construction Skilled Trades pathway allows students to earn tuition FREE AIMS Community College credit for the work they complete at Thompson Career campus.* Students must apply to AIMS and pay the registration fee. This pathway issues the following college credit:
1st Semester (Year one of pathway)
AEC 233- Safety & Construction (2 credits)
2nd Semester (Year one of pathway)
CE credit pending
3rd Semester (Year two of pathway)
EIC 100- Electrical Print Reading (4 credits)
4th Semester (Year two of pathway)
CE credit pending
Are these classes considered guarantee transfer college credit? No. Students are encouraged to connect with their preferred college/university advisor to determine transferability of college credit.
*If the student recieves a grade of 'F', 'W' or 'Incomplete' on their college transcript, the student may be required to pay back the tutition cost to Thompson School District.
