TMS Welcomes Our New 2021-2022 Staff
Hello! My name is Meg Strauss and I teach 7th Grade ELA. While I was fortunate enough to have taught at TMS for the fourth quarter of last year, this will be my first full year here at Turner! I grew up in Northeastern Colorado and graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in English Education in 2018. In my free time, I love to knit, swim, and go on walks with my golden retriever, Murphy. Most of all, I love all things related to reading and writing! I am beyond excited to be a part of the Turner community!
Safety and Security: Hi everyone, I'm Scott Bauer. I'm a Colorado native. I was born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado. I went to Colorado State University and got my bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science. My wife and I moved to Loveland, Colorado in 2001 and have lived in Loveland ever since. We have a 9 year old son that keeps us very busy. I enjoy crossfit workouts, riding my bike, playing poker with friends, watching football and just being outside. Being a Colorado native, I've enjoyed a lot of the amenities Colorado has to offer, BUT I have never been skiing.
Rigo Castillon (Dean) I have had the pleasure of being an educator for the past ten years. I began my career in education in Baltimore, Maryland at an all Black high school founded in 1828 meaning at the time the institution was founded it was illegal to teach Black students to read. My experience there set forth my trajectory with equitable, inclusive education being at the forefront of my teaching philosophy. Aside from my two years spent at said institution, I have primarily been a Spanish teacher, working with a diverse array of student populations and age groups, including rural and urban communities, elementary, middle and high school ages in Maryland, Minnesota and Colorado.
Jenna Smith (Para): I live in Berthoud with my husband and our two kids, we have a third kid who is a sophomore at CSU. I have a bachelor's degree in business finance. I love to hike, garden, cook and do puzzles
Hello Turner Dragons! My name is Maggie Mildenberger and I teach 7th Grade Math and 7th Grade Math Focus. I have loved Colorado my entire life, I grew up in Thornton and have also lived in Greeley and Fort Collins. I graduated from University of Northern Colorado with a Summa Cum Laude Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, with an emphasis in Teaching Grades 7-12. I LOVE math and I LOVE learning! I have learned something new every day so far here at Turner, and I am so excited to get to know the Turner community even better. This is my first year with Thompson Schools, and I am so excited to be a Dragon! Outside of school, I like hanging out with my partner, playing video games, traveling around all the beautiful parts of Colorado, and trying new recipes.
Hi Turner! My name is Amber Christenson. I teach ELD (English Language Development) for Turner and for Berthoud High School. I grew up outside of Kansas City, Missouri and taught there for a little over a decade. Just recently my husband and I became foster parents. My favorite thing to do is travel to where they have filmed movies. Before COVID my husband and I went to Jordan, so I could see where they filmed the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. As a bonus I was able to see where they filmed The Martian which was in the same country at a place called Wadi Rum. This is my 4th year with TSD. I love working with our students and families and I am excited to work with all of you.
Hello! My name is Austin Kemprowski and this is my third year teaching English and my first at Turner; I received my master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction at CU Boulder where I also developed a heavy dependency on late-night coffee. In addition to reading (my favorite book is East of Eden), I love horror movies, listening to music and photography—I love shooting pictures in the city and finding new perspectives of appreciation.
