Loveland High School Safety & Security Update 2016-17Safety across our country is a concern for everyone. Here at LHS we are constantly reflecting on how to make our school community safer. During the 2016-17 school year, we will be focusing our efforts in the following areas.ID’s and LanyardsThe change: We are requiring all LHS students to wear a free school-issued lanyard and ID while on school property. All staff and visitors will also be required to wear an ID while in the building. Why: To quickly identify who is in our building. Seeing our colored lanyard and LHS ID will help to ensure that unauthorized people are not in our school.West Entrance: All Visitors/Attendance OfficeThe Change: The Attendance entrance will no longer be used; these doors will remain locked. All families and visitors will enter through the main entrance. If they need the Attendance Office, families will be escorted to that area. All other visitors will be issued a temporary name tag and be required to wear it while on campus. Why: To reduce the number of unlocked entrances/access points in our school and to manage effectively and efficiently who is in our building at all times.East Entrance: Limited AccessThe Change: These doors will be open before school at 6:30 and will be locked the majority of the day. We will unlock these doors 10 minutes before each period begins and they will lock 5 minutes after class begins. When these doors are locked, students will not be allowed into the building through this entrance. A student who is more than 5 minutes late or early will need to access the building through the West Entrance. When these doors are unlocked, they will be staffed and monitored. Why: To reduce the number of unlocked entrances/access points in our school and to manage effectively and efficiently who is in our building at all times. Additionally, this will allow us to monitor the entrance when the doors are unlocked.Thank you for your cooperation in continuing to help make our school as safe as possible. If there is additional information, we will update you at that time.
