    Breaking News

Are you ready to get a jumpstart as a hard-hitting journalist? Breaking News turns you into a journalist your very first day. Our camp journalists will be assigned Camp X-STREAM beats to cover through a variety of storytelling formats. Your stories, broadcasts and more will be shared with camp and district families through Thompson School District’ social media at the end of each week.

    LEGO Robotics

Enter the world of engineering with robotics, using Lego Mindstorms software and equipment. Students will experience the engineering cycle as they design, program, and test their robots to accomplish specific challenges. This is a chance to explore mathematics and technology in an atmosphere of teamwork and friendly competition.

    Minecraft Design Challenge

Minecraft isn’t just gaming these days; it’s a powerful skill-based educational tool. In this class, students will choose a virtual build challenge that invites them to solve real-world problems. Minecraft challenges range from "A Day on the Farm", "A Diverse and Connect World" to designing an epic "Adventure Theme Park". Each student will engage in daily, collaborative design sprints, reinforcing the design thinking needed to complete their chosen Design Challenge. Each student will choose to build their Minecraft World using code blocks or python.

    Stop Motion Animation

Would you like to know how to make a stop motion animation? This class will give you hands-on experience creating a stop motion scene using the Stop Motion Studio App.  Stop motion animation is a multi-faceted art form that encompasses storytelling, design, and movement. At the end of this class, you will have your own short, animated video to share.

    The Science of Cooking

Let’s make ice cream, pretzels, and cookies! How could you go wrong? Well, lots of ways, actually. You must understand the role of key ingredients, or your cookies might taste, well, awful! In this class, you will test recipes with and without these key ingredients to find out just how important they are to your recipes and cookies.
