Coming up: March 12-Second grade Showcase 7:00pm (be there at 6:45pm), March 16-20-Spring Break-no school
Reading: We have started our new unit reading nonficiton texts about natural disasters. We are focusing on main topic and supporting details. This text fits nicely with our current science unit.
Science/Writing: We are studying the fast and slow changes on the earth's surface. We are investigating rocks, sand, and pebbles now. As geologists, we are writing our scientific observations and investing properties of matter.
Math: We are currently in Unit 6 which is adding and subtracting numbers to 1000. We are still practicing our fact fluency and word problems.
Homework: Students are expected to read 15 minutes each day and complete a reading calendar. The Book-It Pizza Hut calendars are due at the end of each month through March.
Math should be 5 minutes of math skill review. This could include flashcards (math mountain cards), games, or XtraMath if you choose.
If you would like extra math homework worksheets for your child, please see the attached homework. If you choose to have your child complete these, please keep them at home.
