Please take extra caution during drop-off and pick-up times. If you are utilizing the parking lot, curbside parking is for quick drop-off and pick-up of your child(ren). There is no double-parking in our lot. If you attempt to park between cars waiting at the curb and cars are parked diagonally in the lot, you will be asked to move. Please make sure you allow yourself enough time to find a safe place to park before and after school.
Together, the Monroe community provides a safe, student-centered learning environment that encourages independence through critical thinking, perseverance, and collaboration. By partnering with families and the community, we are dedicated to meet each student's diverse needs so they can dream big and reach their full potential.
Monroe’s Positive Academic Support team has remained focused on student achievement. We strive to acknowledge and support students in their work habits, efforts and accomplishment as they work toward their personal academic goals. Along with this positive focus, we have established an ongoing Problem Solving Team (PST) that unites parents, students, teachers, staff and others to provide instructional interventions and support to help meet students’ needs and achieve success.
The Positive School Climate team continues to provide activities for staff, parents and students making Monroe a wonderful place to learn. Parents are welcomed and recognized for their dedication and support to their students and our school. Teachers and staff members are also recognized on a regular basis by peers for what they do for students and staff members. Substitutes, visitors and parents comment about the positive, welcoming environment when they come to Monroe Elementary School.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
Our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program makes a continuing impact on behavior and student achievement. We continue to improve the process, looking at data and responding to students by establishing and monitoring behavior plans. Data is continually a focus as we work together on ways to improve the school environment and students’ ability to feel safe and respected while at school. Staff members and student leaders produced a playground video which promotes our Mighty Mustang behavior of being Safe, Respectful and Responsible.
We continue to provide family involvement through parent nights, Face to Face (PTA), School Academic Advisory Committee (SAAC), and volunteer opportunities monthly. Families enjoy showcase nights at each grade level which include music presentations and PE activities along with showcasing student artwork. We enjoy having families join us several times a year for breakfast and a luncheon. Our Community Liaison provides resources and activities for many of our families as well.
Technology in Education
All classroom teachers and support staff have access to the latest technology in laptop computers and iPads. We've expanded our technology with interactive whiteboards and now many rooms have added large screen tvs and are using MirrorTV technology with their lesson flow. Students have 1:1 iPads and teachers have taken and continue to take classes which enable them to use these instructional tools effectively. We are proud of our accomplishments with regards to interactive technology available to staff and students. We also have a new multimedia focus in our computer and library spaces to serve students as they create and reflect their learning, working with peers and teachers, receiving instruction, participating in assessments and receiving interventions on a regular basis.
