Degrees and Certifications:
Meet Your Teacher
Welcome to Fourth Grade at Ivy Stockwell. My name is Ms. Bonnette, but sometimes you may see Ms. Baranowski (my married name). The students can call me Ms. B. At Ivy Stockwell Elementary, I have taught in 4th grade for many years, with a few years in 3rd grade, and individual years in 5th grade, 1st grade and 2nd grade. I’m excited for another year at Ivy!
For those of you who don’t know me well, I am a native of Michigan, and Michigan State alumna. My first career was in Journalism, where I received an Associated Press award for breaking news coverage. While I was reporting, I covered education, but I was happiest when I worked with children. I come from a family of educators, so teaching is definitely in the blood. My husband, Jim and I have a mischievous yellow lab named Jackson.
In fourth grade, we travel through Colorado History! We will become researchers, and learn about Colorado’s environment and what shaped its culture. We explore the impact and effect of Geology, and how it transforms our landscapes. We learn about explorers, mountain men, Native Americans, the Gold Rush, and 20th century events that helped Colorado evolve into the state we have today. We also get to look at ways to power our state into the future with our Energy unit.
We will have a great time learning through our STEM lens as we explore literature, fine-tune our mathematics skills and scientifically observe our state’s natural, capital and human resources. My theme this year is “Follow Your Arrow,” which means set goals to achieve your dreams. I can not wait to see how much we will grow this year.
