Responsible Reading in Middle School:
In a library that serves students ranging in ages from eleven to fourteen, a wide variety of materials is needed. What is interesting and appropriate for eleven-year-olds may not be interesting or appropriate for fourteen-year-olds and vice versa. Libraries are all about choice. I tell our students that if a book makes them uncomfortable or it would make their parents uncomfortable, please return it and find a book they can completely enjoy. I encourage parents and students to have discussions at home about what students are reading and practice self-censorship so that we can all enjoy the books we select. I put a great deal of time and effort into selecting books that are award-winning, well-written, appropriate, and of middle school interest, and I use a wide range of book review sources to form a decision before adding it to our shelves. My passion is to get good books into students' hands and create life-long readers!

Ms. Kim
Hello! My name is Ms. Kim and I'm excited to be the new Library Media Assistant here at BRMS! Although this is my first year as the Media Assistant, I am no stranger to BRMS as this is my 7th year here. I welcome each and every student to come in and check out the library and discover what genres they enjoy reading. Whether it's fiction or non fiction, I'm positive we can find something for everyone!
