    Entrance age

A child may enter kindergarten if 5 years old on or before October 1 of the year of enrollment. Younger children who do not meet the district’s entrance age requirement for kindergarten may be accepted if transferring from another kindergarten program and the principal or designee determines that placement of the child in kindergarten is appropriate. A child who is 4 years old on or before the district’s start date for kindergarten and has been identified as a highly gifted student,  in accordance with applicable state law, may enroll in kindergarten if the early entrance committee determines that placement of the child in kindergarten is appropriate.

Enrollment options and before & after-school care

All of our elementary schools offer an all-day kindergarten program. A half-day program may be available; please contact the school directly for more information.

Thompson School District has partnered with the YMCA of Northern Colorado and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County to offer before and after-school care for our students. A care provider has been assigned to each elementary school. Families will register directly with the care provider for service at the associated school. Refer to page 8 of the Kindergarten Parent Handbook.
