Degrees and Certifications:
K-6 - Elementary Education - Chadron State College, K-12 Masters in Reading - University of Northern Colorado
In my tenure at WC I have served in many capacities. With students, I have coached volleyball, kept score at both volleyball and basketball games, and sponsored the yearbook. With staff, I have served as a member on the leadership team and as instructional coach over various years.
I knew I wanted to be a teacher from the time I was in kindergarten - it was just something that my heart knew I was meant to do. Just after my high school graduation, I had the opportunity to work in a preschool as an aide which solidified me needing to get my degree and go into teaching! I student taught in both elementary and middle school and my first job was in a K-8 country school in Nebraska where I taught 6-8 ELA and was a 6th grade home room teacher. I will never regret staying with my middle school focus! I'm now doing my 32nd year of teaching at this level with yet a new experience with TCO.
I live by my motto - "I go to school everyday to learn something new. When it feels more like going to work, it will be time for me to retire from teaching."
Outside of school to help find balance, I spend time in the outdoors - walking, hiking , enjoying nature, etc. I also enjoy doing crafts and sell some of my work at local craft shows which includes counted cross stitch and various sewing projects.
