Volunteer Graduation Requirement
As a graduation requirement, high school students beginning with the class of 2021 will need to complete a minimum of 20 hours (these hours are prorated at 10 hours for the class of 2021, 15 hours for the class of 2022 and 20 hours for the class of 2023 and beyond) and of community service outside of their home and family environment. Please click here for the Community Service Guidelines and paperwork needed. The Community Service Advisor at Berthoud High School is Mrs. Lutz.
The Berthoud Youth Advisory Commission (BYAC) has recently begun an effort to locate and contact area nonprofits about volunteering in order to share opportunities with students. If you have a volunteer opportunity you’d like to share with BHS students, please contact Carin Barrett.

2021 Graduates (Message sent 12/4/2020):
Berthoud High School wants to let you know that this year your community service paperwork and verification of your 10 community service hours are due the Friday before spring break, which is Friday, March 12th. This is a requirement for graduation for the class of 2021. Please click here for the Community Service Guidelines and paperwork needed. We are including many volunteer opportunities that are still available during this pandemic, as we realize that community service may be difficult during this time, in our weekly memo that is sent out every Friday afternoon and also on our BHS website: Weekly Memo. There are also many opportunities to volunteer by helping your neighbors shovel their walks, rake leaves, help them clean out their garage, run errands, etc. If there happens to be a concern about your senior completing these hours, please work with Mrs. Lutz, your school's community service advisor, as to what the next steps are. Please email Mrs. Lutz at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns.
