Elementary Education with a Special education endorsement
Hello! I am Samantha Villarreal, and I am 26 years old and at Winona, I teach Kindergarten. This will be the start of my second year of teaching at Winona. Winona Elementary was my home school from 2nd grade to 5th grade. Winona was when I decided to become an educator! I had amazing teachers that were innovative, passionate, and empathic. These traits and much more made it clear for me when I was a learner at Winona that being an educator you can share your love of learning! Having these Winona teachers traits are exactly what I want to come out of my very own classroom. I show up every day ready to share my passion for learning by being innovative and empathic each day!
I continued my education at Fort Hays State University. How I ended up in Hays, Kansas was that I received a scholarship to play softball. A year later my sister Kenzie also received a scholarship to play softball alongside me! At FHSU I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with additional endorsements in Special Education. During these years I also did two study abroad experiences. My first aboard experience was in Belize working with an orphanage helping with teaching summer school and being a caretaker. My second experience was when I had the amazing chance to go to Costa Rica and attend a language school. This experience was amazing because I had a chance to live with host families to be fully immersed in their wonderful culture.
