Searching databases is different than searching Google:

    • Strengthen your keyword search (use no more than 3-4 keywords)
      • Look for terms or alternative words/phrases in abstracts, articles, reference sections, etc.
      • Consider terms or alternative words/phrases listed within the searched documents itself.
      • Consider related topics/subject.  Often times, these suggestions are listed in sidebars or near the end of your initial search.
    • Practice synonym development
    • Use academic language
    • Utilize the Boolean Search or Advanced Search tools
    • Use truncation
