  • TMS Yearbook Program Named a 2016 Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence

    Turner Middle School’s yearbook program was named as a 2016 Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence. The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies literacy. Turner Middle School’s yearbook advisers are Julianne McMahon and Danielle Balliet.

  • MVHS Boys Team Wins State Track & Field Championship

    The Mountain View High School boys team won the 4A State Track and Field Championship. Top TSD finishers at the state meet were:

    • Long jump – 1st place – Logan Stewart, Mountain View High School

  • TVHS Boys Team Ties for Third at State Swimming & Diving Championship

    The Thompson Valley High School boys team tied for third place at the 4A State Swimming and Diving Championship. Top finishers at the state meet were:

    • 500 freestyle – 1st place – Liam Gately, Thompson Valley High School; 2nd place – Chris Eddy, Thompson Valley High School
    • 200 freestyle – 2nd place – Liam Gately, Thompson Valley High School

  • Teachers Receive Crystal Apple Awards

    Three teachers received the top Crystal Apple awards from the Thompson Education Association. The recipients are elementary school teacher Dean Book, middle school teacher Karen East, and high school teacher Darlene Halverson. All were nominated by coworkers at their schools, and they were chosen based on leadership, teaching excellence and involvement in the TEA.

  • Great Idea/Encore Grants Awarded to TSD Staff

    Thompson Education Foundation awarded five Great Idea Grants and two Encore Grants to Thompson School District staff for the 2016-2017 school year totaling $9,887. Successful Great Idea Grant applicants demonstrate an out-of-the-ordinary approach that supports student achievement or well-being to enhance the educational experience for TSD students. Encore Grants are awarded to projects that were previously funded by a Great Idea Grant and can demonstrate continued project growth with a second year grant. The Great Idea Grant recipients are: Loris Osier & Jennifer Solt, Thompson Valley High School, “The Write Life Literary Magazine”; Judy Modlich, Truscott Elementary School, “Inspiring Success Through College Athletes”; Michelle Malvey, Lincoln Elementary School, “Mobile Innovation Stations”; Kristen Miles, Ponderosa Early Childhood Center, “Experiencing the Lives of Children Around the World”; and Jennifer McDermid & Lisa Adams, Thompson Valley High School, “Integrating English and Biology.” The Encore Grant recipients are: Michael Pintaric, Loveland High School, “Wireless Electronic Projects”; and Lisa Coalwell, Big Thompson Elementary School, “Project: River Recovery Rangers (Part 2).”

  • LHS Student Receives Boettcher Scholarship

    Loveland High School student Richard Ortecho was named one of 42 seniors in the state to receive a 2016 Boettcher Foundation Scholarship. Boettcher Scholarships recognize Colorado’s top students by providing them with the funds to attain an excellent in-state education and access to additional opportunities to enrich their time in college and beyond. The scholarship includes virtually all expenses: full tuition, fees, a book allowance and an annual stipend for living expenses.

  • MVHS Receives 10 Bobby G Award Nominations

    Mountain View High School received 10 Bobby G Award nominations, including Outstanding Production of a Musical, for their musical theater performance of "Anything Goes." The awards program, which culminates in a Tony Awards-style ceremony and performance at the Buell Theatre, celebrates outstanding achievement in high school musical theatre in Colorado. This year, the program was expanded to include 40 schools across Colorado, up from 30 the year before.

  • Robotics Team Places in High School World Tournament

    Robotics Team 974X "Cyberbrains" was successful at the 2016 World VEX Robotics High School Tournament. Team members are Jason Garner (senior at Loveland High School), Mark Garner (sophomore at Mountain View High School) and Jessica Garner (8th grader at Conrad Ball Middle School). They competed with 500 high schools from 32 countries. They won their division championship (100 teams) and went on to compete in the final five, where they then won 3rd in the World (500 teams) with their two alliances from Shanghai, China, and Texas. Additionally, the team placed 5th in the World in Programming Skills and won the Build Award in their division.
