    The School Health Professional Grant (SHPG) program is designed to provide funds to eligible education providers to enhance the presence of school health professionals in their secondary schools. School Health Professionals are defined as School Nurses, School Psychologists, School Social Workers and School Counselors.

    This grant program intends to increase the availability of school-based prevention, early intervention and health care services and programs to reduce the risk of marijuana and other substance use and abuse by secondary school students. This matching grant exists to help secondary schools:

    • Increase the presence of school health professionals in secondary schools to provide substance abuse and mental/behavioral health care to students who are enrolled in secondary schools and have substance abuse or other mental/behavioral health needs
    • Implement substance abuse prevention education and provide evidence based resources to school staff, students and families
    • Reduce barriers to students who are enrolled in secondary schools with services has that are provided by community-based organizations for treatment and counseling for students who are at risk for substance abuse

    Hi! My name is Jessica Shiveley and I am excited to be working in the Thompson School District as the Social Worker for the School Health Professionals Grant.  Working with the Youth in our community through the schools is such an amazing opportunity. A little bit about me.... I was born and raised in Nebraska and completed my graduate degree in Social Work at the University of Nebraska- Omaha.  My husband and I moved to Colorado with our two children three years ago, and since then have welcomed another child! I love being a Mom and spending time with my husband and children.  I to travel and love the outdoors; including camping, biking, hiking, gardening and exploring new places, which is why Colorado is such a great fit for my family!

    I have over 12 years experience working in various roles in the Human Service field/Social Work role.  I am very passionate about helping others to reach their full potential, while providing a caring and supportive role in their life.  I believe we all can make a positive and influential difference in our future generation!

    Natalie Denkers has worked with the School Health Professionals Grant as a social worker since March of 2017.  She received her Bachelors of Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder and her Masters of Social Work from the University of Utah.  Natalie has been licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the past 17 years.  She was a child and family therapist in a mental health outpatient clinic and is a licensed behavioral health specialist at a local hospital.  Natalie enjoys the outdoors, gardening and reading.

    Hello! My name is Quincey Holmquist and I have the pleasure of serving as the School Behavioral Health Nurse. A little bit about me... I grew up in Loveland, Colorado and went to college and nursing school in Nebraska. My husband and I recently moved back to Colorado and it feels so wonderful to be back home. I have a passion for helping, serving, and educating people, which lead me to pursuing a career in Nursing. I love that there are so many different paths you can take with Nursing to combine your personal passions, personality, values, and skills to the healthcare profession. I truly love spending time with my husband and family, along with traveling, shopping, and spoiling my 3 nieces and my nephew. I am so excited for this opportunity to serve in our schools and in this community.
