    • MVHS Announcements for January 17, 2020

       

      • Mountain View High School is invited to represent your Congress regional district CO-2 in the SIFMA Foundation's 2020 Capitol Hill Challenge™!  The SIFMA Foundation's Capitol Hill Challenge™ (CHC) program is an exciting national financial education competition for public middle and high schools that reaches every U.S. Congressional district. CHC matches each Member of Congress (MOC) with up to two public schools in their district to participate in a fun, educational competition that instills a deeper understanding of personal finance and economics. CHC features the acclaimed Stock Market Game™ (SMG) program. Student teams manage a hypothetical $100,000 portfolio of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, impact investments and cash. The top 10 CHC student teams win a trip with their teacher to Washington, DC in June to meet their Member of Congress and be recognized at an awards reception on Capitol Hill.  How can you participate?  Up to two public middle or high schools per Congressional district may participate in CHC each year with up to 10 teams per school and 3-5 students per team. There is no charge for CHC teams. If you are interested, please see Mr. Kaufhold in room E228.
      • Today is the first official meeting of The Mountain Bike Club will be in Mr. Claffey's room, E120! Anyone is welcome, whether you're a seasoned veteran, just interested in learning about the sport, or simply do maintenance on your bike. Again, that's today, January 17 after school in E120.
      • If you are interested in attending the Front Range Community College field trip to explore the Career Pathways programs. See your counselor for the blue permission form.  These are forms are due to Ms. Ramos in the Never Summer Center by the end of the day TODAY Friday, January 17th.
      • Students, Community Service packets that are not filled out completely will NOT be accepted. You MUST fill out both sheets and answer every question in order for your Community Service to be accepted for graduation requirements.
      • Attention Juniors:  If you are interested in helping to plan Prom 2020, please see Ms. Ramos in the Never Summer Center to sign up.
      • Seniors, the Loveland Community Scholarships are now open. There are two applications this year, be sure to fill both out. The paper application is on our website and the MVHS Facebook page, these are due to counselors on March 2. There are also scholarships on the Thompson Education Foundation website, this application closes March 6. See your counselor for more information.
      • The first Unified basketball game will be taking place here at 5pm in the small gym. The game is free and something you won't want to miss out on! Come support your fellow mountain lions take on Windsor High School!

      • Mountain View - did you know that we have an ANIME CLUB? Well, it's true, we do! If you love anime - or even if you just like anime - please come and join us on Wednesdays after school, 4-5, in Mr. Yurk's room D140. Hope to see you there.
      • Today is the last day to sign up to be a player or Peer Buddy for Unified Basketball; paperwork needs to be filled out and turned into Ms. Herring in C114.
      • Tonight MVHS hosts the Boys Basketball game against Centaras JV is at 5:00 and Varsity is at 6:30 pm . Our theme tonight is crazy hat and hair!! We also have our MVHS Girls Basketball away at Centaras, JV at 5:00 and Varsity at 6:30.
