Ms. Gina Ahmad
Ms. Ahmad is delighted to be joining High Plains K-8 School as the ELD teacher, and to be a Bison. She is excited that High Plains School is a STEAM school, encouraging queries. She understands the value that each student brings, and inspires the process of curiosity, while promoting strength and resilience that improves our community. She has been teaching for 17 years. Ms. Ahmad relocated to Colorado from Chicago, Illinois in 2015 when her daughter accepted her admission to the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Ms. Ahmad has a Master of Teaching in Education from Concordia University, Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Management. Ms. Ahmad speaks Arabic and conversational
Spanish. She is certified to teach English to diverse learners and she has an English Learner designation from the state of Colorado.
Ms. Ahmad has taught elementary school in Chicago for 2 years. She has global experience teaching English as a new language to elementary, middle school, and college-level learners overseas for 8 years. After that, she taught 7 more years in Weld County as the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Lead teacher. Ms. Ahmad served as a Colorado Delegate for two years, helping to set policies, and electing members to serve in educational offices.
Ms. Ahmad enjoys the majestic mountains of Colorado, and she goes hiking with her dog, Simba. They also love going paddle-boarding, canoeing, and bike-riding. She practices yoga and goes swimming almost every day. Ms. Ahmad takes joy in traveling the world, and learning about other cultures, and the fascinating stories that come with learning about new places and meeting diverse people.
