Acquisition Department
The English Language Acquisition Department (ELA) provides a variety of services for students and families identified as having a primary or home language other than English, immigrant students, and for students and families identified as agricultural migrant workers.
The department provides translation and specialized instruction in English language acquisition for students to maximize opportunities for the student to participate in the school environment. English language acquisition and Migrant education services are required and defined by the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act and federal Civil Rights legislation and case law and are also addressed by the Colorado English Language Proficiency Act and the Colorado Department of Education rules and regulations.
