Board of Education

Our Board of Education is composed of seven elected community members representing director districts within the boundaries of the school district. Their regular meetings, which are open to the public, are normally scheduled on the third Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Board Room at 800 S. Taft Ave.

We are proud of the fact that:

  • The Colorado Legacy Foundation and the Colorado Department of Education named the Thompson School District an Integration District. Thompson is one of thirteen districts across the state selected to integrate key educational reform efforts regarding standards, assessments, and principal and teacher evaluations into the educational system.
  • We are on the forefront of meeting the needs of all students with new options and challenges.
  • As a district with a 2005 and 2008 Colorado Middle Schools to Watch recipient, Thompson actively hosts teachers from outside the district and participates with the Colorado Association of Mid-Level Educators.
  • We provide intensive staff development to assure our teachers have the tools to meet the learning needs of all students.
  • Our test scores are continually above the state average.
  • Surveys consistently show that most of our staff and parents are satisfied with their schools and their directions.
  • All of our professional development training is based on well-researched strategies so that our teachers are up to date in their approaches to meeting the needs of all learners.

The graduating class of 2012 earned more than $13.9 million in scholarships. We are a continuing source of Boettcher Scholars and Merit Scholarship semi-finalists and finalists.
